Swallow Tail Butterfly

I was shooting birds at a local lake a couple of summers ago, when a gardener told me about some butterflies in the park garden. I only had my 50-500 mm OS lens with me, and I walked over to the garden to see if I could grab a few shots. This swallow tail was very cooperative and I got a few decent shots, of which this is the best. This was a hand held shot at 373 mm!

That's so awesome Larry! I am glad you were told of this. Butterflies can be so hard to catch as they often just wont stop flying.

Nice job with this capture. Handheld telephoto (100-400mm) is what I use for bees on backyard blooms in my backyard. You get a wider DoF with the long lenses.
