A Sunday morning scene from the Portland Japanese Garden. This is part of the area in the garden known as the Tea Garden from a spring visit.

Edit - Jim came up with the idea of having a Sunday Garden Community thread focusing on images from locations similar to the Portland Japanese Garden. I like the idea so I am inviting others to add in your own images of formal gardens or similar scenes.

Dangit hahahahah!
I didn't know what they even were before moving up here and discovering they are just about everywhere. They thrive in the wet and cool environment west of the Cascades.

f you look carefully my shot of the Japanese Garden has about a dozen variants of rhodies in it. All of the blooms in the scene are rhododendrons and the plant along the lower right are rhodies just about to bloom.

Weyerhauser has a rhodie garden in WA. Everything from ground cover to 30+' tall trees. It was pretty amazing to walk around.
