This was only half a day as my wife's event was finishing at 4am and we were going to drive South soon afterwards.
The forecast hinted that I may be able to dodge the rain for the day and I set out to drive 30 miles South to a new location.
This is the short but very fast flowing Dundonnell River only 100m from the road. I noticed a much higher waterfall half a mile upstream but didn't think that I had time to investigate it, another time probably.
The sun made a very brief appearance as I walked back to the car so I had hopes of staying dry for the day.
My main destination for the day was Ardessie with its waterfalls.
This was taken from the road with a fair bit of water flowing perhaps from snow melt. This stream rises on An Teallach which had a lot of snow on it 2 days previously but the rising temperature had probably melted it.
The rain started in earnest after a few minutes as I trudged up the very wet and steep hillside and explored the numerous waterfalls.
This is my favourite from the day and may be my favourite of the visit. If you look carefully you may spot a wild goat and kid watching me. The goats are British primitive goats and were introduced about 5,000 yrs ago for milk and meat but have been feral for thousands of years
This is the top waterfall.
A brief slither down the hillside to the car and off to the coast for a late lunch before the drive back to Ullapool and then to the South.
Mellon Udrigle has a stunning sandy beach but I decided to explore the rocks instead. This long exposure is unlike my usual seascapes but it just seemed right at the time. On the horizon you can just see the mountains that I had been tramping over for the last few days.
After this it was pack everything up and drive back to Ullapool with a very brief stop to watch 2 sea eagles and arrived back just as my wife left her event.
I hope that you have enjoyed my little journey. Ken
