I've always had a variety of wonderful dogs through my life, but Sophie was "one in a million" and truly a perfect shooting buddy. She was a Newfoundland that I lost last year at the age of 13.
One of her many faces caught on camera...
10 weeks old, in the snow... Got leash?
Always the poser...
I wasn't going to get another after Sophie, but Keller was adopted from the SPCA at 2 1/2 years of age, a little over 1 month after Sophie's passing. Keller is an Australian Shepherd who is deaf due to poorly matched parents which some unscrupulous breeders do to create dogs with extra white, but 25% of the offspring are born deaf and or blind. Keller had no training when I adopted her, but now knows quite a few commands.
Wearing her sunglasses for sensitive eyes...
One eye is all blue, the other is 1/3 brown...
