So, anyone upgrading to A7r iii?

With the announcement of A7R iii, what are your thoughts about the newest A7R series?
Being a landscape photographer I don't see a huge upside on upgrading from A7r ii since this new camera has the same sensor in A7R ii. Definitely there are some other upgrades, but for people who shoot on tripods and manual focus this is not a reasonable upgrade from A7r ii, that's my two cents. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

That's an interesting question. I do find it odd that Sony is calling this III when there isn't a sensor upgrade. If I was shooting the A7R II I don't think I would upgrade to the A7R III.

I have the A7rII and wouldn't upgrade even if I had the $. Big downside for me is the lack of support for Play-memories Apps - many are not very well implemented, but I really depend on the time-lapse to shoot stars, and like the smooth reflection to replace ND filters. I don't know why they would do that - they should open up the app business to independent developers so we might get a better focus stack app etc.

On the other hand I might have to eventually get the 24-105 as a walk-around lens. Right now I'm shooting primes in that range and don't always want to carry them, or change lenses in dusty environments.

I have two A7rII. My thought is to replace one to try pixel shift but to keep the other for the SR app that appears unsupported by the new body. Better IBIS, Eye AF, EVF, and battery life are useful. We will see if their claim of increased clarity, better color, and dynamic range hold water.

That's a very good point about the apps, hope Sony listen to our comments.

Based on the Q&A section of B&H, it looks like Sony weren't able to address the 'Star eater bug' issue (had on A7r ii and A7S ii) in this new camera, bummer!

I won't be upgrading my A7R2, if work can produce enough $$ in the future to afford adding one to the lineup, it would compliment the a9 well for portraits/events etc...but for my landscape needs, the A7R2 does the job well, and its already paid for. The lack of APP support is probably the biggest reason it can't replace the A7R2 for me.
