I love these Owls, I do feel bad for them though. They have the paparazi Chasing them up and down the beach. This guy was pretty cool to hang and put on a show until the crowed got to big. The first shot he was washing his face in the sand, I never saw them do that before. As always all C&C welcomed

Some really nice shots of the bird. Bummer about the mob scene but this guy doesn't exactly blend in with the beach environment.

The third image almost looks like the owl is being a zen monk.

Thank you, and a new name "the Zen Owl".

You would be suprised on how hard they are to spot, you kind of need to know their spots and know the fact they look like plastic bags on the beach. most of the time they get spotted from the other photographers around them. I was very lucky, this guy flew in front of me and the person I was walking with. Within 15 minuits there was a crowed.

So very cool Joe! I like the order you posted these in because for me, each one was better then the previous with #5 being my favorite.

I agree with Jim on the order. Snowy owl was pinnacle when I was birding. We would hear spotting's wast of Spokane and drive 40 miles just to see one, and usually never did. These are all great.

Thank you ben. I get that, this one is between 35 and forty miles away. And it is lucky to see one, they do know where to hide most of the time. I'm just lucky to know a common place to spot a few that are there. From what I'm told they are the same ones that come back year after year.

Thank you so much, I'm lucky to be able to see these beauties even if the temps get down to the negative numbers.

Thank you. I wish I knew how to find other breads of owls also. around here the woods get realy thick and hard to navigatate through.

Joe,

Great set, the sequence tells a nice story. Very deserving of featured post of the day status indeed! Would be special to see one of these guys up close. We have owls behind our house on a walking path, and sometimes in our yard, but not the white ones like this. Very cool!
