Today was a bucket list day for me . . . My first visit to the Grand Canyon! I know many on the forum have likely been there numerous times so excuse my giddyness from my first visit. This was a detour from our trek from Minnesota to Santa Barbara and well worth taking the extra day for the visit. A restaurant owner in Flagstaff told us to try to get to Shoshone Point. We weren’t sure if it was accessible with the amount of snow in the park.
We were able to park in the small unmarked lot and we could see the trail which consisted of a narrow line of stomped snow no wider than the width of two feet. My dog led the way. It was a slow hike for a mile as the footing was not difficult but you needed to pay attention. We were rewarded with a view below.
