Rydal Beck

On Saturday my wife had a meeting in the South of the county so I went along to take photographs of somewhere I don't often visit. The weather was wet and misty so grand landscapes were out. This is Rydal Beck a small stream that leaps down the hillside in a series of waterfalls and cascades. The Autumn colours have barely started but last year's beech leaves, on the ground, still have plenty of colour. The beck is in the grounds of Rydal Hall a very grand mansion owned by the Church of England with free admission.
The Grot a 17thC building to allow the guests to enjoy the waterfall out of the usual rain.

The view from inside the Grot, if you look carefully you will see that this is a selfie.

The last of the easy to get to waterfalls

Saying that this is easy to get to is only half the picture. I really wanted to get down to water level and on my last visit 20+ yrs ago I found it easy but I am realising that my days of scrambling up and down steep hillsides are over. Sharp eyed viewers should spot the Ninja taking photographs. More to come from here on Wednesday. Ken

Beautiful scenery - and the scenes remind me a lot of the Pacific NW for vegetation. The viewing hut adds a nice rustic touch to the overall composition in the first image. I think my favorite is the last one.

This is so cool Ken! I like all of these, it's a magical looking location. I like your minimal selfie in #2, those can be fun and that's a neat window. It's interesting that they had built the building just to enjoy the waterfall and to stay dry.

In the last one, that guy really is a ninja. Even with your hint, I had to look a bit and 2nd guess, and look again to see him. He sure blends in.
