Part of the issue is that this image is actually 9024 x 6782 pixels instead of the 3000 long edge that it is restricted to here on FW. The issues I am seeing are more obvious when zooming in. For reference, here is a link over to my Astrobin site shown below. Here you can click through to see it in screen filling size, and then click the Full Resolution button in the upper corner to really get in close. To be fair, the native resolution of this is actually half (so 4512 x 3391) but I find that a 2x upscale allows me to print these very large and still look quite good. The point though is that on the Astrobin page you can see both versions (original and version B marked as the final version). Looking at those even in just the full screen mode the differences are pretty obvious on the bright blue stars. As Chuck says above this is an effect that is somewhat prevalent in these types of images, and the original processing of the stars was accentuating the colors too much, making the effect much more visible.
