Very nice use of the light for this shot of these pictographs. I like the soft light on the details of the basalt.

For the sake of clarity with my comment pictographs are painted on a rock face while petroglyphs are carved into the rock face.

Thank you, Alan. These are actually cut into the surface of the rock. I don't know if I've ever come across a pictograph. I imagine they would have to be in a protected area like a cave or strong overhang?

I remember finding that it was so different finding petros on boulders on the ground there instead of on cliffs. And in suburban back yards! Looks like you are covering some ground, Kurt! I just found out about petroglyphs in Wyoming that are also on boulders on the ground & hope to visit them this summer/fall.

It was definitely interesting and there is a lot of them there. It's quite amazing. Good luck with your search!
