Red Deer with new "stag party" image.

From Highland Scotland last week. A young' ish stagg taken 15 min before sunset with the rain battering down. It gets dark early here f6.3 1/400s ISO 12800. Ken

"Stag Party" This image was taken earlier moving very slowly and carefully and got off a few shots. Unfortunately another car pulled up and the passengers jumped out and the deer took off. I went back the next day when the light was brighter but the deer had moved, probably higher up the hillside. Ken

This looks way more serious of a deer then we have here. Our deers always make one feel like you want to go up to it and pet it and give it a hug. But this guy? His look and those antlers would have me looking around for a safe escape!

Jim European red deer are big and aggressive during the rutting season but attacks on humans are rare. Any sensible person who has seen 2 large stags rutting will not go close. Ken

It does look in good condition but it also looks too small to have been successful during the breeding season. The stags that take part in the rut use tremendous energy and often look quite thin at this time. Ken
