Thanks, Alan. One of my professors and I were combing the Chinle Formation for pieces of petrified wood on the Navajo Reservation for one of his studies about how the wood was formed. I just stumbled on one of the prettiest pieces I have ever seen. Here is small section of it.

I love the close up here - an even better abstract. A different kind of Rock Art :)

Very cool Doug! What amazing colors! And I can attest to the how amazing your collection of rocks and things are. I have seen in person just a small portion and you have some great items there.

This is a piece of petrified wood from Petrified Forest National Park that has been cut and polished. It is from my personal collection. I just photographed it this morning for a friend who is contemplating buying some of his own. All of the colors are various states of oxidized iron except the black which is manganese dioxide.
