Photo Club Website Host/Provider - i.e. Smugmug, Wixx, Squarespace etc

Bit of an odd question maybe but my local Camera Club here in Ireland has no website and I've been 'volunteered' to identify an easy to use, template driven web solution.

What the brief is for a simple site: Club News/Blog, Members photo galleries, competition photos that sort of thing. Was wondering if folks could recommend a site that they have used in the past that is easy to set up/maintain etc.

I've looked at the 3 providers above but they all seem to be pitched at individuals or businesses vs clubs? Any thoughts welcome.

While I have not used them for hosting there is a Swedish company named JAlbum that might work. I have used their web site software for many years now and have been pleased with the output.

Hey Graeme, I don't know of any template driven websites that can handle that. It's not a lot you are listing, but in a way they are diverse desires that you don't usually see bundled together.

What you are listing is something we could integrate here if you would like. All of the elements you listed we do currently have here. We could probably set up a separate portal to come into a section dedicated just for your photo club? I would have to think about that some more, but I think the basic building blocks for what you want are here.

Anything to help Graeme. It could be setup so your group could have your own moderators so your group is in control of the Club area. For a Photo Gallery, we could set up a separate category like we have now for Astro. I am not sure if I can make the Photo Gallery totally separate, but it certainly could be used.

Hey folks - well in the end I took the smugmug offer. Our club is on summer holidays atm so very quiet so far only I and in and few others have dropped in some photos. I've created the site to be simple so photos, competitions, links and contact. Its actually the clubs 50th year this year so I've set up a page in anticipation. Anyway you are free to take a look and any ideas or comments are always welcome. Thanks again.
