Options?

Been a very dry year for me - photography took a back seat to work, family and out of town guests.

Have some time after labor day to take off for a few days. Looking for options within about 500 miles of the Seattle area. Current options are either Oregon coast or Glacier NP. Thoughts?

I have Glacier on my calendar for the second week of Sept. That will hit them in early fall colors and hopefully before anything serious in the way of storms hit. Oregon coast crowds will be thinning out but there won't be anything resembling fall colors until mid October.

A quick glance at the weather shows you have a better chance at some clouds. It looks like clear skies in Glacier at this point.

I'll be in Ilwaco Saturday night if you end up anywhere near that area. If the skies stay clear as forecast I'll be trying for Milky Way with a lighthouse

Which side of the park are you heading to? I got hooked on the east side and have been going to the Many Glacier Campground. First week after Labor Day still sees the campground fill by around noon every day. I will hit the road the Monday after Labor Day and try to get to the campground by Wednesday morning to score a site. So far the pressure on the campgrounds has usually eased off by then.

I was the thinking of splitting time between the east and west side and potentially even cross the border as well. Thinking of leaving Monday night reaching tuesday morning on the west side first.

Will be great to meet up. I am open to tweaking my schedule some.

Are you staying there for two weeks? I leave Vancouver on Monday 9/10 and should make it to West Glacier late in the day on 9/11.

Likely just a week. I (incorrectly) assumed the wrong Monday for you. I’ll likely be getting back before you get there. I need to be get back around 9/10.
