On the return trip ...

I went into the Adirondacks on the first cold, frosty day at the end of October, hoping to find an interesting scene after all of the fall colors had passed.

I drove by this scene - and wanted to shoot, but there was little light in the Sacandaga Basin, so i kept moving along. Didn't find much on a back road through the woods, so I turned around and came back. As I was driving along the same site in the opposite direction, some wonderful side-lighting lit the frosty trees in the basin, and kicked some soft, beautiful light onto the low mountain in the background.

Ben, John, Al: Thanks. I was so happy to see the remarkable lighting. I got out a nice print of it yesterday; that's what made me post. It doesn't show in the post, but there's a nice, very subtle hint of red, yellow, and even brown in the background that complement the hoary frost.

Love it Bart! Lighting can make all of the difference in the world, and the timing was right on your return drive.

LOVE!!! The lighting is beautiful! And like I said in an earlier post I love trees. The layers are great with the light!!

Thanks, Jameel, Jim, Alisa. The print reveals the slight colors that compensate for the blue shift, but you know how the transition is from screen to print; there's always some variation.
