North Lake Night

It wasn't smoky above Bishop for the first time in recent memory, so I headed down with the intention of doing some night photography at North Lake (and sunrise away from the crowd). There were 5 people futzing around 2 hours before sunrise, and as I was headed off to my sunrise hike ten cars showed up at once like there was traffic on the way up. All comments welcome!

15 images taken at 6400 ISO stacked for the stars, one 5 minute exposure at 800 ISO, and a little bit of light painting blended in.

Outstanding result - just enough light to show off the ground portions of the scene. I like the highlight on the aspen grove along the far shore.

This time of year North Lake feels like Grand Central Station. :)

I sure like this Tim, the night sky is beautiful and love the fall gold.

Thanks for commenting Ben, Alan, Jim, and Sunny! The colors look like they're peaking at Conway and Bishop Creek, but June Lake Loop still has some time left in it.

I will probably be heading that way next weekend to do the same thing
Let me know if you want to meet up. I'm in Mammoth for the year.

Tim, what a beautiful night sky, made even better with the foliage.
