Interesting series here Mike, You have some really great actions shots. Been a long time since I was at a drag strip, weird to see Camry's. Looks like they have an uphill run out area.

This might border on extreme understatement but drag racing appears to have undergone some rather major transformations since I attended the NHRA Winternationals event near Phoenix in the mid 60's.....

It certainly has Alan The TF and FC cars put out 10,000 Horsepower and yes Toyota has stepped into the fray. Over the last 5 years the crowds have gotten bigger and the drivers friendlier. Quite a bit more than NASCArR and in my humble opioin they would do well to pay attention as NHRA someday may overtake them.

10,000 HP?

We all got excited at the '66 Winternationals when one of the top fuel dragsters made a run in the high 6 second range. My guess would be that all the runs in your images above would have beaten that time.

I love the drags and this year we didn't go (Vegas in April & October). We used to go every time they came. Bucket list is finals in Pamona :). Nothing like Raw Power and on qualifying nights...the jet dragsters! Love that smell of burnt rubber & you are right about the drivers. My sons bday is April, so we went every year...we have been in Jeg's trailer, got a parachute from John Force...all of the drivers signed his hats & shirts. Fun

Hey Mike,

Very cool shots here, I do like #1 and 2 the best, the flames, and then the dragster getting air is sure cool.
