NGC7380 The Wizard Nebula

Halloween is coming and so are a lot of fun fall targets. Here is the 1st

I invested 14 hours in this image (168-5min) light frames which was probable a waste of 7 hours as I don't think I gained that much more detail with the 2600mc, a OSC camera.
Taken 9/23 + 9/24/23

Its one of my favorite targets so I didn't want to skimp on data. The fun part of this hobby is to compare previous images of the same target.
Different equipment and processing can make a huge difference. The image on the bottom, was taken almost exactly one year ago. What will next year bring?

I like the additional detail in the first image. It also seems to display depth better than the older version.

There is a lot more depth to your new image Ed. I like the extra background details you were able to pull out. Also the coloring change from the yellow of the old one to the more orange of the new one I think is appealing.

With mono camera's, they seem to do best in the 10 to 12 hour range of integration, but with OSC, especially with the 2600mc Pro it seems like 7 or 8 hours is the best, that there is no improvement to do more. I haven't verified that by any kind of testing, but it sure seems that way.

Nice progression! One of my favourite nebulas. It’s amazing how far we do come processing wise. I was so chuffed at my effort on the wizard last year . I shot it again this year and like you have clearly progressed!
