For my SVX 700 FL, it's a little thing

NGC 1579
(also known as the Northern Trifid) is a diffuse nebula located in the constellation of Perseus. It is referred to as the Northern Trifid because of its similar appearance to the Trifid Nebula, which is located in the southern celestial hemisphere of the sky. It is a H II region, a region of star formation. The star cluster contains the emission-line star LkHα 101, which provides much of the ionizing radiation in the nebula.NGC 1579 lies within a giant molecular cloud known as the California Molecular Cloud.

I have about 18 hours in this 1/2 with a IR/Cut filter and 1/2 with the Antlia 5nm. using my SVX102 and the 2600 MC pro.

FYI, I ordered a new field flattener for my 8" sct which will be at a FL of 1425. Owners of the Starazonia flattener tell me it will make improve my old SCT to the same image quality as as the newer HD Edge scopes... We will see? So to compare with my refractor, I plan to retake this object at 1425 fl verses 700 with this new flattener to see if it lives up to the hype or did I waste had to come by equipment $'s on a dud? As this image is not too shabby even with a heavy crop.

This looks really great! You got lots of nice detail Ed.

And you educated me, I never realized there were 2 Trifid nebulas. I need to do some research now.
