Thanks guys. There is certainly a sizable element of randomness involved in creating these types of images. However, you need to stand in front of your scene for a while while trying different techniques and reviewing them on your LCD as you do it. You will soon notice a relationship between your shutter speed, how fast you are moving your camera, the length of your stroke, and when you press the shutter. It’s really a lot of fun and you get instant gratification as your results get better.

Nicely done Jeff. Agree with you about experimenting with different movements and shutter. Not always works out but when it does, yields a nice image and this is a good example of it
