Nice specimen and some good DoF with your closeup.
Thanks Alan.. This image was taken with my 150-400 and 1.25 x converter or the FF equivalent of 1000 mm telephoto (1/200sec. f6.3 and iso 5000. And Topas DeNoise AI.
I just stood on my front step and pointed at the mushroom on the lawn next door. Didn't even have to trespass 😜.

Actually a 150-400mm with a 1.25x extender works out to 500mm. I use a 1.4x extender on my 100-400 to get 560mm. Lots of DoF for targets like this. I do the same thing to shoot some of my neighbor's flowers :)

I'm shooting with micro 4/3 so the 1000 is when you double the focal length to get a full frame equivalent. This was shot at the 400 end and the build in 1.25x so that is 500 and then doubled is 1000. Anyway it is a lot of magnification. :)

OK that makes sense. I am used to calculating from full frame.

I could not have identified this mushroom in a million years if I hadn't photographed a similar-looking mushroom 10 years ago or so. Mine was identified as Amanita Lepidella. Excellent photo, Trent.

Thanks Eric. My daughter picks and eats a lot of mushrooms and told me this was likely an Amanita of some kind.

Nice image, Trent. I hope she knows her mushrooms, Trent. This one isn't poisonous, but many Amanita mushrooms are.
Thanks Douglas...She has worked with a number of mushroom experts and is pretty cautious but yes you really don't want to get it wrong with mushrooms.
