More Northern Lights from October

One of the great things about being up in Minnesota during the Fall Color season is that it's also a great time to capture the Northern Lights! :)

This is actually East out of Duluth into Wisconsin, with a secluded beach overlooking Lake Superior I found on the map that actually turned out good. You just never know sometimes. It was a short 1/4 mile walk from the parking area to the beach, which took about 5 trips back and forth in the dark to bring in all of my gear as I was driving up from Chicago, so it was dark already. But it was worth it.

These 2 are captured with the Nikon Z6II and the Viltrox 16mm f1.8. It wasn't a totally clear night, in fact some friends over on the Minnesota side got clouded out, so I was glad to get even partially cleared skies.

All comments are welcome,

Jim

I think the clouds add an interesting touch to the scenes. I'm kind of partial to the second image where the clouds are competing with the aurora.

Hey Alan, thanks! I am with you, I like #2 a bit better than #1 for that reason.

Wow. Otherwordly is a nice description. Hard to chose favorites - both are awesome.
I appreciate that Jameel. As awesome as the Northern Lights were, the chase was just as much fun, traveling in the dark to a place that I only saw on the map as a possibility. And then that beach area turned out even cooler than I thought.
