Moraine Morning Twilight

Hey Kyle,

The predawn calm is a welcome mood at the moment, and you've captured it well. I don't mind the tall tree, but I would have considered moving into the nearer mountain that is cut off. Of course that probably would have messed up the balance you did find. The mountains have a pleasant glow. I'm not sure if it's because of the size of the jpeg, but the snow on the right two mountains looks like they've lost detail.

Nice mood to that scene. It’s a juggle between the compositions and factoring those trees into them. I have similar ones from there.

Very cool Kyle. I like this one a lot. I hear you about the large tree, it would have been nice to be avoided. Of course then the reflection would change if you moved, perhaps not for the better.

Kyle I suspect that if that large tree wasn't there that we would be left with 1 tremendous shooting spot with all others a long way behind. However I have never visited so I, not for the first time, could be completely wrong. Ken

I of course like this one...how can you not. I think that tree works on this one, it helps create a sense of depth, more so than if you had been in front of it. Now you feel like you are looking through to a location, experiencing it more for how it is. I dig it.

I'm glad you spurred me on to look for more images from that morning. I do like how this one came out once I invested some time into it.

That is a beautiful scene. Kyle. That tree doesn't bother me at all. I think sometimes we get caught up in all of the compositional rules and fail to appreciate the true scene. I believe that if you asked someone who wasn't encumbered with all of the rules we photographers have assimilated over the years they would absolutely love this image.

I love that spot and your take on it, esp. the reflection, but agree on the tree. A bit wider view would have nailed it (if you didn't have a wider lens then how bout a pano?).

Kyle.. the scene is pretty stunning. It is what it is some times you just can’t avoid an object and that dose not take away from the image . You handled it great , it allowed for all the other stuff in the scene to really come through.. if this was dancing with the stars I don’t think that they could deduct any points here.. don’t ask me why I thought of that analogy... I just did
