Great stuff - really like this. I got some of the Perseids but with no real foreground, deciding if it is worth posting. This on the other hand is wonderful. I agree - the very first one has the most natural look while still giving us plenty of detail. And as mentioned, the meteor is a great bit of icing on the cake.

Mike, then crop out the ground layer. Just go with an image with stars and the meteors. That would make it a bit different then we normally see.

I think this edit is pretty good Ben, I do like your #3 image in your original post the best. As others have mentioned, my original suggestion was just for some subtle tweaks to your original.

Thanks Jim. What I prefer in my original post is that it tames the red sky glow that I am not fond of.
