Mid-winter at DeChambeau Ranch

The sepia treatment makes this look ancient which fits nicely with this decrepit old homestead. I don't see anything resembling electrical service to this building - it was abandoned in the 1800's?

Edit: Found my own answer : DeChambeau Ranch. The history suggests a time period that would have included electricity but at least in your view of the homestead it isn't visible. The last of the family moved out in the 1940'.s

This is really cool in Sepia! I like what you got.

Thanks for the article you linked Alan.

It's kind of sad that for as prosperous as it was, that by the 2nd generation the kids moved away. I guess the ranch life was too hard for them? It's not an easy life for sure. But still kind of sad to think about.

There are remnants of a water pump in one of the out buildings but I don't think I've seen evidence of any wiring or any power poles in the area. Next time I'm there I'll have to take a closer look.

Thanks, Jim. It's pretty much in the middle of nowhere so life there was most likely not a lot of fun. Great place to walk around nowadays and still off the beaten path.

Beautiful image, the post processing fits the mood of this shot perfectly.
Thanks, Joe. This was taken later in the afternoon and I was pleased with how the light was falling across the house. And, no, tracks! A little unusual but it did look like I was the only one in there for quite a while.
