I took these shots of Mars from the last 2 weeks. These were taken with the Celestron 9.25 Edge with a 2.5 Powermate and the ASI 224mc camera. Each shot was scaled up 1.75 times and taken at the resolution of 320x280

Here is the finished project. I started this on 12-01-22 and took the last shot on 12-28-22.

Hey Chuck, these are awesome! Love the details.

I just started looking at video for planetary capture with my 2600mc Pro. Just trying to understand the process and options. I certainly wasnt expecting anything. I did see the 320x200 (I think) option. What are you upscaling it to? I saw it, but thought it might be too small.

The reason you crop down is to get a faster frame rate and the files aren't too large. Mars is so small even imaging at 6000mm and the 1304x976 pixels you have a lot of wasted area so I crop the image until Mars fits in nicely. You can also make a custom size crop. I tried planetary with my ASI533mc and it didn't work out that good. I couldn't get a fast enough frame rate to get a decent shot. The 1600mm works great for planetary but you have to take all three filters. I think the 1600 gives a sharper image but I got lazy with the color camera. I've been rescaling Mars at 175%. It's starting to get smaller now. It won't be good again until 2031.
