Low Tide Ruby Sunset

A low tide December sunset at Ruby Beach. The Destruction Island Lighthouse in the distance on the right. Mid winter tides reveal just how shallow the water actually is just off the main beach area at Ruby and you can walk out almost 1/4 mile on the sand and gravel.

Thanks Jameel - winter can be a bit on the wild side for waves out along the peninsula but the obvious caveat is getting out there when the skies aren't dumping inches of rain per day. Lodging is actually quite reasonable during the winter months. Kalaloch Lodge frequently has 2 night for the price of one deals with winter rates on the one night. Their cabins have kitchens so you can make your own meals.
