In my last visit to the Antelope Canyon, I tried several compositions just pointing the camera up to take in some of sky to go with the canyon walls. As expected this poses a pretty serious DR challenge. I also lucked out a bit since the moon was also up and visible from the canyon. These are bracketed images blended together. I wasn't too happy with the processing then so I revisited these with the latest tools.

Took a bit of artistic license with the moon in moving it a tad bit as well as enlarging it about 30%.

Very nice results with both of these - and a good reason to NEVER delete your old RAW files. I cringe when someone posts they they have been weeding out their old captures and tossed hundreds of images to make more drive space. Drive space is just far too cheap and these results are an excellent example of why you really want to keep those old shots. Our processing software just keeps getting better and better with each new iteration allowing us to recover dynamic range we never thought we could deal with in days gone by.

I used to bracket everything I shot just so I could blend the captures to get what I saw and now find that I can just take one image out of the set and do it all with the single capture.

Gorgeous images -- both of them. Great job implementing the moon into the photo. One of the nicest composite I have seen.

And #2 is equally beautiful, all on its own.

With a little more time on my hands, I expect to revisit a lot of my favorites with new processing. Nothing like revisiting some of those great times.

Nice find - always very fun to go back and find something you overlooked or to rework something that didn't pan out the first time. I have shot images like these from there and you are correct - typically too much DR without some sort of HDR or blending. I got one I liked too, but not with the Moon in it

Thanks Mike. Its definitely a challenging place to shoot and DR isn't the only one. And these days one can't take time to find the compositions with everyone being rushed through.

Nice comps and processing on this Jameel. The handheld images I took looking up when I was there were quite noisy. I'll have to check if those can be improved as well.

Thanks Tuan. You should try the Topaz Denoise AI. I am pretty impressed by its ability to deal with noise.
