Lightning and sunset

Hey everyone,
I was out shooting the last couple of days and I captured the 2 images below. The first was a lightning strike on Bear mountain. The second was captured during a very heavy downpour but just as the rain was very heavy the sun peaked through a small opening in the clouds. I managed to capture the image during a brief period where the rain let up enough but still got soaked standing in the rain during this capture.

wow, bob, both shots are beautiful, the first one shows the awesome power of mother nature, the 2nd picture has the lovely pink hue.

I love the hue of the sun shining through the showers in the second image. The lightning shot is pretty neat but it sounds like being under some kind of cover while you wait for a strike would be handy.

Alan, It would have been great to be under some cover but I couldn't pass up that beautiful hue in the sunset even though I was soaked afterwards.

I am really late to the party Bob as I am in SW Colorado. I like both of these, but of course lightning strikes always takes images to the next level.
