Hey Ben, how long are you leaving this up this week? I might get a chance to pull out my laptop tonight, so I will try to play too.
I am closing end of day Thursday, would you like another day?

Ben - color wise I think you are almost dead on. I think this is a bit on the light side for overall brightness but not by a lot. You should gain a little color if you bring the overall brightness down and that matches my own shots from 7:15p. We were at a point of losing the light of the day since we bailed about 20 minutes after you shot this and needed flashlights by the time we got back to the parking area.
Thanks Alan, much appreciate your take on this. I might be a bit bright, my old printing habits die hard and you need to process on the bright side to get a decent print.

I like the tones in this one much better, but I still see halos. Whatever your doing to lighten the trees is showing through the branches in that tallest left hand tree. The patches of sky seen through the branches are lighter than the rest of the sky in that area. It's a really tough masking job.

What masking hahahah, all LR. I think it is when I add contrast & clarity that does it....I will make a third pass tomorrow as I did notice the slight halo in the left tree :)

Say Ben and Darcy, you don't have to worry about something being a tough Masking job if you use the tips in this article I wrote a while back.

And Darcy, too much shadow and highlight recovery will also add halo's into a photo. But the Article I am linking will correct that too.

This tip is a life saver.
