Who sez that infrared only applies to landscapes? IR can do some very nice things in portraits too... e.g.,...

Le Chapeau (Infrared). The beautiful Rhiannon sports her fedora during a session at Red Bench Photo Studio in Jerome, Arizona. Infrared light reveals an otherwise unseen radiance emanating from her skin.

Tech info: Nikon D3200 camera (modified for infrared with 590nm filter), Nikon 18-140mm lens at 140mm, 1/100 sec. at f11, ISO 100.

Interesting - I would not have expected this result.

I thought I recall that IR did some funky things with blood vessels back in the days of IR film but this looks quite nice.

Thanks, @AlanLichty and @Ben Egbert ! Yes, you're correct... Digital IR sometimes does funky things with blood vessels just under the skin too. But the difference is that it's a lot easier to retouch away those effects in the digital universe (and you don't always see them, either - seems to depend on the individual's coloring and possibly other traits).

Well done! Usually I've found that most IR of people (unless the right context) just look off .

This walks the line between standard and surreal nicely.

This is super cool Jim! I just hadn't really thought of IR for portraits until I saw Amy's post and now yours. Very interesting indeed.
