I was in Iceland for 16 days in March 2016. Barely saw the northern lights until 2 days before we returned home. We were staying at a tiny modern one-story hotel outside the town of Hofn in Southern Iceland. All the rooms had floor-to ceiling glass window facing north. Weather report was favorable to see the lights. I setup my camera/tripod with a wireless remote just outside my room. I was in bed watching the action and triggering the shutter using the remote. No chasing for the lights. No standing in the cold patiently waiting for the lights. You watch while sipping hot chocolate in bed
