Thats quite the contrast in topography between the flats in front, the dunes in the middle and the mountains behind. Having a dramatic sky is a good compliment to the layers below.

That's some great layering you have there! I like the B&W look here.

I thought about that as an area where I could go to shoot some Deep Space Astro this winter, until I remembered just how cold that area gets.

What a neat place to explore! This is quite a dramatic, busy image what with all the thick, dark clouds and different mountain shapes and layers. It seems a little dark overall; I'm wondering what it would look like with a tad more exposure but without blowing out the clouds. It also looks a little soft on the focus but that might just be image compression.

This was taken with a tilt shift lens, that's why you're seeing softness at the bottom and top. Thanks for your suggestion regarding tonality, but this was a very dark moody image to start with and with keeping with the dark high contrast I feel I have lightened things up too much all ready.

That would be a great idea....remember layers with warmth too!

you have a fantastic talent of getting just the right look for B&W! the textures and contrast not to mention the composition are spot on!!!
