senior session from yesterday. Used my Zeiss Milvus 1.4/85 ZF.2 if any of you want to know. I’ve gotten so used to the Zeiss lenses / manual focus that I hardly use my AF lenses, which are few anyway. Thank you for your feedback

Very cool work here Todd. All 3 of these are fantastic. The chain link works for me, I thought it helped to separate Landon from the background and gives the feel that he is our playing basketball in an outdoor court. What I really like with #2 is the lighting and how softly he is lit up compared to the background. Did you use a reflector or a flash in those first two to light him up?

Hi Jim,
I used the Phottix Indra 500 strobes with a Westcott XXL Octobox for the fill flash, that was used on the first and second image here. Thanks for comments.

Thanks for the added info Todd.

I like your additional shot also, a great senior type pose, and the soft light is really nice.

One thing I forgot to comment on in my first reply, is I can't believe you are manual focusing! Wow! I can manual focus a landscape if needed, though usually I AF to my hyperfocal distance and then recompose the scene. But to do portraits in manual focus? My hats off to you. It appears you are used to manually focusing, but for myself, I just can't imagine doing that. So great job on that aspect.

Thanks Jim! Yeah portraits for me are easy to manual focus, now I CAN’T shoot much wildlife or birds in flight manually, I’d crash and burn on that aspect.

I like the timeless quality to these portraits, accentuated by the slight desaturation in the colors. Good stuff.
