Solitude - Kite Surfing off Huntington Beach, CA. Oil rig and cruise ship in the back ground.

Late afternoon - 1/8000, f/11, ISO 100, 200mm (150-600mm 5-6.3)

Hey Robert,

What a cool looking shot. The mono tone look is good. I wish the surfer was a little easier to see, not sure why he is blending in so much to the water. But it's still a pretty cool looking shot.

Thanks Jim, not sure ether, I took several shots increasing the shutter speed each time, when I got to 1/8000 (although I couldn't tell from the back of the camera) I thought that would be fast enough. But when I looked at it on my computer it still looked blurry but every thing else was sharp. Hard to tell from the picture but he was traveling about 25-30 mph. ??

Yeah, I saw your shutter speed and figured that had to have been more then fast enough too. Maybe it was some water spraying across his body that softened him?

Still a pretty cool shot, it's been a while since I have shot any kite surfers. There used to be more of the at Huntington Beach, but they seem to have died down a bit from the hey day of 5 or 6 years ago.

cool shot out in the open ocean. I was going to post my cousin kite surfing too. Perhaps later today when I get home.
