Kentucky Overlook #1

My wife and I set out to Big South Fork National Recreation area for some fall colors, shoot some arches or some overlooks at sunset. We took some detours and never made it, ending up near Picket State Park on the adjoing forest land. Stumbled across a sign for an overlook, went out and spent the rest of the day here. Had the entire place to ourselves. This is from a side view facing southwest. The main view looks north towards Kentucky and I will post tomorrow. Canon eos-r, 24-105L.

Colors were at early peak

Hey Jon! What a wonderful sunset! I always like a mix of green still hanging in there with fall colors.

The rock you have in it at the bottom, I know when I shoot at similar locations, I go back and forth whether to include or exclude the rock. Visually by my eye, the rock at the bottom always looks so cool. But when I take a photo including it, sometimes it feels like more of a distraction. Not sure if its that visually I am seeing in 3D, and with a print it's 2D? Did you try a version of this with the rock cropped out?

I usually try to include the rock but I do have some images without. I may revisit some of them. Thanks for the kind words :)
