Juvenile Light Morph Red Tailed Hawk

On the way home from work I saw this hawk land on the top of a pine tree. Luckily he was three houses away from me so knowing he would fly before I got home & back with my camera with my 200-500 lens, I was surprised when he was still there. As soon as I got him in my sight he flew off, but I was lucky to get a couple shots of him. These still are pretty huge crops.

These are really good Darcy! It looks like you have really been practicing with your longer lens. It's funny how birds can sit for hours, but if you make eye contact with them and they see you start to raise your camera, off they fly away.... :(

My BIF's always seem to be huge crops . you have to be in the right place at the right time for them not to be. I havn't figured it out yet. That's why all of those really good wildlife photographers have the edge, they know the animal and have a ton of patiance.
They came out really well for the crop BTW!

Looks really nice with juvenile feathers - beautiful bird and some good captures here.
Hawks are fun to watch and photograph. Good job.

Nice imaging! I like the blue sky background, too.
