Joshua Tree cholla...again

Ok...so I love these Teddy Bear cactus. I was at the garden shooting west most of the time. I turned around and saw Monsoons firing off to the East, so I started shooting that way. Although there was a lot of lightning emanating from that thunder cloud, it was too far away for 35mm to pick up well.

I like this one. The visual of the fluffy top of the cactus with the thunderheads behind frames the scene well.

The cholla in front makes me want to back up carefully making sure there isn't another one behind first.

Hey Ryan,

Very nice! A good one here, and a good reminder to not be so focused that we are not aware of our surroundings. I also like the hint of the Anti-Crepuscular rays in this too.

Thanks. I met another photog at the garden. We were talking and he pointed out the Anti-Crepuscular rays as well while we were shooting. I had no idea what they were until he explained and pointed them out.

Thanks. Yeah...I stayed on the path for this one. Love / hate relationship with the garden.

Hey Ryan,

The light hand on processing works well for you here. The cholla detail is great at the front, but the far branches look like they lost some detail in focus stacking or something else. Is that just me?
