IR Flowers...

590nm / Sony a6300 (most of them shot with a 70-200mm lens).

My favorite is #2, I like how you composed it, and then #1 follows that one up for me.

It's funny, just yesterday I was talking to @Douglas Sherman on the phone, and he brought up about IR and how great this forum is getting with more people starting to shoot IR. And you know Doug is really into flowers, so he mentioned that some flowers have IR built into them to help direct some of the insects to them (I think) and that it would be cool to shoot some flowers in IR and see how that shows up. Now, these may not have that IR banding built into the flowers, but they are IR flowers! So it made me smile this morning to see these IR photos of flowers by you.

I asked Doug to see if he could provide a short list perhaps of flowers that have that IR coloring built in to them, so that we could maybe seek some of those out and see how they do respond to IR photography. Hopefully he can do that when he has some spare time.

It is a crazy coincidence, it's not like it's been a poplar IR theme or anything. I can't tell you how many flower images I've shot lately in both VL & IR, but I really enjoy processing the IR ones. I just feel that the Infrared gives them more texture and detail. I am definitely interest in finding out more about the flowers Doug is talking about, my knowledge of flowers is very limited.

Interesting Doug. Too bad it wasn't in IR light, that sure would have made for some fun photos.

These are really beautiful! The soft effect paired with the long focal length is magical. I like #1 because it looks like an oil painting. I like the textures and framing. #2 and #4 are particularly striking, and #5 is lovely and artistic as well.

Very nice, Amy. Love the compositions here. What type of lens are you using for these?

Thanks Kurt! I thought I had used a 70-200mm, but now looking back it was a Tamron 28-75mm lens. I recently purchase the Lensbaby Velvet 56, and have been playing around with that. Unfortunately for me, I can only shoot VL images. But it is an amazing lens, still getting used to the in camera soft focus.
