Hay, if you guys find some good places to drive your rigs that are not overregulated and photogenic, let me know.

Jim, loved the story, the 4Runner,…and the shirt—how many miles does it have? I took my FJ Cruiser in today for oil change, etc. and it only has 63,000 miles on it. If I ever had to trade I would also look for a 4Runner TRD. Good choice Jim.

Yup nice new rig. Now get a new shirt. I don't think you ever take that one off!
Ha ha Jeffrey. It actually is a new shirt. Trust me, you weren't the only one talking about my shirts, so I went through and got a whole bunch of new ones from Sams Club. And I threw away all of my old ones. :)

I guess my problem is the new ones are similar looking to my old ones. :)

Thanks so much John!

I sliver of a window that allowed me to get this meant it hadn't been driven but in dealers lot. When I purchased it, it had 7 miles on it, and those were all of my miles from test driving it. :)

Congratulations on your new ride! Might even be more comfortable to sleep in............
Check out Slee OffRoad in Golden, CO for modifications (since you're out here often). They only do Toyotas. They did all my mods on the FJ, but they've gotten super busy & expanded now. You can also order parts through them.
I had spoken too soon Monika. With your asking, I decided I better fold down a seat and crawl in the back. The design of the back seats is not as good as Jeeps design it appears. With the Jeep, the back of the back seat just folded down over the bottom of the seat, and the back was totally flat. With the 4Runner, I have to pull up the bottom seat, it rotates to lay against the back of the driver seat, and then the back folds down into that space that was created. Because the bottom flips up, it now takes up about 8". Losing that 8" means when I lay down, I no longer can lay flat. My knees have to bend a bit. :(

So that's not great. I can survive, so I would have say my sleeping is a downgrade in the 4Runner compared to the Jeep Grand Cherokee.

When I looked at a 4Runner I decided I would remove the back seat and put in an elevated bed like I have in my truck tha extende from the back of the front seat to the tailgate but I never measured to see if that is long enough. Also need a placeh to put the refrigerator

Jim, I removed the rear seats completely from my old Land Rover Discovery. Gave me a bunch more storage area and I got the absolute full length of the rear.

Thanks Jeffrey for that idea. I had thought about that actually earlier. I am not sure how easy it would be with these seats, but my problem is I am spending the majority of my free time in Colorado being a taxi driver for my grandkids. So I need to have the seats to be in working order because I have to install carseats the moment I pull up into her driveway. o_O

Thanks Ben, as I just mentioned to Jeffrey that's probably not reasonable since I spend half of my life currently being a taxi driver for my grandkids. So I need the seats to be in working condition. Otherwise I would really look into that option.

Nice ride I bet! Jeep was getting old...
It even matches your shirt!!
Yeah, 300,000 miles was a lot. I thought about keeping it still for just local in town stuff, but in the end I wanted to get my payments down so I did trade it in. I do miss it, and I feel kind of bad for trading it in. :(

Ha ha... yeah. maybe Jeffrey will like my shirts better once he realizes they match my 4Runner!

How are you going to afford a new shirt when we have been spending all your money upgrading your new wheels to what everyone else wants it to be? 😁

I am starting to put my basic gear in the back of the 4Runner. And all though it's bigger then my Jeep Grand Cherokee was, I am finding I have less space in the back because of how it was designed.

By having even just 1 of the 2nd row seats laid flat, because the bottom part flips into the area where a person there would put there feet, I lose about 2 cu ft of space compared to my Jeep where that space was open whether the seat was up or down.

And in the back cargo area the wheel Wells are bigger, so I have less space in between them.

So this is a weird case that something bigger has less room then something smaller.

I can buy or build storage platforms for the back, but I didn't need to in the Jeep to get the same amount of gear. I had thought with the 4Runner being bigger inside i would have so much extra space, but now I am having to deal with less space. :(
