Horse Hoof pt 2

Our plan was to go to the Joint Trail head and hike to "The Joint" which is in Chessler Park. But after driving the road to Horse Hoof, the 2.4 miles to The Joint would take 2 hours each way plus at least an hour for the hike. We decided to stay at Horse Hoof which was probably just as pretty as Chessler park. We walked all around the campsite and looked for different compositions.

Here are a few:

1. The needles.

2. A nice formation

3. A wider view

Beautiful scenery that brings back a lot of memories from staying in the Needles District in the 80's. Sure wish I was shooting digital back then.

Wow Ben, more winners!

I like the tighter views, but that wider one is super cool especially as it has the moon in it.

How many nights were you at the campsite?

I wish I had my Canyonlands map with me, I would like to place this location better in my head.

Nice set Ben - the formations show why it is called Needles. My favorites are in the same order that you posted.

Jim, I am not done yet with images. If you want to go, I suggest a 4 inch lift and 34 inch tires

Hi Jim, this link will show you the location of the Horse Hoof Campground:

You can go through Elephant Hill to get to this location or you can come in from the south through Beef Basin Rd. and Bobby's Hole.

We came in and out through Elephant Hill. This trail was tougher than the trail to the Dollhouse in the Maze by a large degree. I am still experiencing PTSD. :)
