Horse Hoof Camp pt 3

Neat light in these shots - great set.

Given the number of people that flood this place in peak visitation periods it's a good thing they have the outhouses.

This vault toilet was about as clean as I have ever seen one of these. Four stars. I attributed that to the low traffic and difficulty of getting to this particular campsite. However, Ben was much chagrinned that the soap dispenser was empty. :) Given the difficulty of the drive, I can only imagine the drive the guy has who has to pump out the vaults at these two remote campsites.

Not sure how many get out here, its a long way from Elephant Hill proper.

Nice set Ben. The light on the rocks really bring them out.
Yes we scouted this view out the day before and had a serious discussion about where west was, Rick won.

I would not want to be riding one of those trucks up the switchbacks.

Beautiful set!
Thanks Bob

Wouldn't the campsite be in use just about every night in peak season? It doesn't take a crowd to fill the poop tank. Interesting question on who/how they pump them. The more often they do it the smaller the load to pump/haul out.

I decided to call the Needles backcountry office before foot becomes lodged in mouth. I am told the Horsehoof campsite is booked fairly solid April & May and Sept through the first couple of weeks of November although reservations can be had here and there. All of the campsites on the White Rim trail in the Island in the Sky district have vault toilets as well. Only the Maze gets shorted on this convenience. I did not ask about the pumping. :)
