I can't get Dropbox fully installed on my I-phone so I am stuck. Also when I try to select account on my phone from dropbox, no such option exists.

Ok, I got the right Dropbox installed on my phone. But part of the install says point the phone at my computer and wait. Nothing happens, plus I worry this might be downloading something it should not be. It also costs $9.99 p[er month. I dont need it that bad.
you don’t need to pay anything. In the app click on the photos icon on the bottom.

Then turn on upload

For Jameel, I got it working, I finally understood what I had to do to start the download. Here is an Iphone image I took a while back, imported to my computer via Dropbox and ACR then I did a bit of PS on it and saved to upload here.

I would still need to make the changed Sunny explains to work in the raw file.

Ben - under Settings>Camera>Formats you have a choice of High Efficiency or Most Compatible. Use the High Efficiency for the HEIC format files. I did not intentionally choose High Efficiency on my own phone but it was already checked.

Ok, I have Dropbox uploading HEIC files that I can see and copy to a local directory on my computer. They show up in ACR but do not open, Do I need to make a setting change in ACR?

Are you using the latest ACR? The version number should read 12.0.0.322.

To check the version number go to the Photoshop drop down menu and then under Plug-ins go to Camera Raw.

Yep it;s 12.00.0.322, it shows in the Raw folder when I open it in Bridge, but the "open with" drop down is missing. If I click on it, it opens in some windows photo program

Import the file to Lightroom
Make adjustments (or not)
Right Click, Edit In
Select Open in Photoshop

It will now open as 16 bit TIFF in photoshop (if you've set your export from LR to Photoshop to be in 16 bit TIFF file)
