After what has been a very trying year, we can sweep out the old and welcome in the new! While there will be many challenges ahead still in each of our lives, the promise of new adventures and new fun beckons us on.

I have been pretty busy with the old as this year has been wrapping up, going through folders full of photos this last year. I filled up almost 20tb of hard drive space with my photos and videos with a myriad of traveling. It's been a blast to share those adventures with some of you in person, and all of you here online at FocalWorld.

Thank you so much for all of your support. Without you guys, there would be nothing special here. But with you guys, we have the friendliest and most helpful photography forum in the world. And having been to most of them, and can say that with no reservations. Thanks to each of you for your photos you have posted, and the encouraging comments you have given to others with their photos.

So, we chart a course to new adventures!

Please take the time to share what some of the "New" there will be for you this next year. It will be exciting to hear.

As a community, I know we are planning another get together in early spring, somewhere in Utah I believe. I need to get with Ben as we iron out the details, but I sure hope as many of you as possible will be able to meet up with us.

In conclusion, I say let's shut the door on the Old and embrace the New! :)

Thanks so much,

Jim

Thanks everyone! :)

So one of the New things for me this year will be a new Astro Mount. I have done amazing things with the SkyGuider Pro. Some would say I was lucky to get the images I got with it of the Deep Space using a 150mm @ 600mm. So after 2 years of using and learning and growing, I got an iOptron Gem28 Astro Mount that has all of the capabilities of a regular astro mount. It is really the next step up from the SkyGuider Pro, but it has double the capacity for weight and can rotate on 2 axis, so it can now GoTo an object in space on command, and help me to find some of the smaller and fainter objects in the sky. This will be a fun, new learning experience and I am looking forward to it.
