Grand Teton Morning

A few weeks back in the Grand Tetons. After a night of star photography, the sun rose and the clouds (or vapor trails) looked cool. The ground is still in shadow.

I went for the yellow trees after Alan's recent photo, and I got into a yellow mood. :)

I like this better - especially the trees in the sunlight.
Thanks! I guess I should have stood around, or gone back to shoot this once the immediate ground area got lit up, but I was packing up my other cameras from shooting the stars and sunrise.

This is neat Jim, I like the yellow trees.

You have unattended cameras all over the place, other then the recent mishap do you worry about them falling over? What precautions do you take? I ask because I plan to do the same.

Thanks Ben, the yellow is cool I think.

I don't do anything special. If I had paid attention to the wind my D810 wouldn't have fallen over as I would have just spread the legs more on that tripod. I have done it hundreds if not more times with multiple cameras up at night on tripods unattended, and that was the first time I had a problem.

Nice contrast between warm upper half of the scene and the snow on the ground in the shade. Have you considered brightening up the ground a bit to make it whiter? The light on the distant trees is pretty nice.

Thanks so much Jameel. I did already brighten it up quite a bit. I felt if I made it any brighter it wouldn’t look real since it’s in shade.
