The road leading to the Hoh rainforest gets just as much rainfall as the area inside of the park boundaries so it's not surprising that there is more than a little bit of moss encrusting everything in sight. Just before you reach the park boundary there is a stand of trees that looks like an old clearcut with a tree plantation single species look to it. It does not appear that it has ever been thinned out so the trees create an oddly uniform scene with the whole forest floor being perpetually in the shade. Did I mention there is some moss?
