Drove up to Glacier point on my first day there. The sky was bare and the light a bit harsh. So time to pull out the IR camera. This is with 590mm.

Thanks Alan. Tried some normal light images and they were quite washed out. IR was worth trying.Good call on the IR for this scene - a bit of an alien planet vibe to it that works well with this view.
Thanks Michael. The thing with IR is that there is no way to know what you will get till you start processing it. Since I have a full spectrum conversion, I end up trying with a couple of different filters. You got a nice IR response from the foliage - perfect conditions for the 590!
Truer words were never said! All I see in-camera is red. You gotta have faith that it will produce something pleasing. I still miss the days when Nikon bodies would let you set an in-camera custom white balance. What you see is what you get. Perhaps technology will catch up to mirrorless and we'll again have that in IR conversions. Hopefully, I'll still be alive to see that! Thanks Michael. Hey Michael, that's interesting. I didn't realize the in camera custom WB was lost. I have been toying with getting a full spectrum, but maybe I won't. With my D7100 that's converted to 590nm, LifePixel set it up so on the display preview the jpg is close to normal look. I hadn't looked into it too much, but now I am wondering what the Nikon mirrorless are missing to make that happen.Truer words were never said! All I see in-camera is red. The guys at Lifepixel told me every Nikon since the D300 won't set a CWB in camera after conversion. At least we have a work around with Rob Shea's custom profile used in ACR. I am learning to be happy with this.Hey Michael, that's interesting. I didn't realize the in camera custom WB was lost. I have been toying with getting a full spectrum, but maybe I won't.
