gbh on a branch

from an overcast day earlier this month. the flies at the refuge are now bigger than the birds.

Hopefully the flies aren't bigger than the GBH Excellent profile/portrait of this specimen. The log is the perfect perch with an almost matching color to the GBH markings.

alan, i did some color grading to get the earthy tones, that's probably why the branch matches the gbh colors so closely.

monika, the mosquitos are small, but there's so many of them you can't help but get bit. the gnat swarms are so thick they look like diesel exhaust. the greenhead horse flies are measured by the inch. my windshield usually ends up with a thick coating of bug goo that needs scraped off after just one trip around the refuge before i can get back on the highway.
