Fungus Gnat

I'm still learning about my new macro lens. This is about the only insect around my house these days. It is a Dark-winged Fungus Gnat according to Bugguide. Most of the time they just fly away and disappear as they are only about 2mm. long. This one was busy eating some honey on my cutting board so stayed in place much longer.
This is a 1.5x magnification. I still need to get more light at the subject but am happy with the lens.

These guys are typically just flying black specks for my feeble eyes so it's interesting to see what they look like up close. Nice macro work.

Nice work. What kind of lighting do you use? Is this 1:1 macro or higher magnification?
Thanks Jameel. I'm using a diffuser on a camera mounted flash. The diffuser was made for a 60 ml. macro lens so doesn't work as well as a new none or the 90 ml. lens might work. The lens is capable of 2x mag. and up to 4x mag. using a 2x teleconverter. I think the lens was at about 1.5x and then I cropped the image some.

Great working of your new lens Trent. Both are nice, but #2 is really sweet getting the head like that.
