From My Sordid Pasque

As a result from a little nudge from Jim P, I dug out & dusted off my IR lens & Singh-Ray 690 filter. My macro lens is supposed to be good (as far as hotspots) for IR, but I didn't have a 62-67mm step-up ring for it, so back to my old 24-70mm. It was breezy, so I went & got my umbrella, stopping short of getting my tent fly out from my super light tent that looks a lot like the diffuser that Doug used to have. Then, I couldn't find my IR calibration/WB in LR or PS (probably exists with an older, maybe from the perpetual license days -- but that one wasn't compatible with the body blahblahblah. Back to DNG converter. After a fair amount of fumbling around, I ended up with this. Not sure what to think of it, but it certainly filled in some time this afternoon.

They sure are some hairy flowers. I like the image itself but I am scratching my head a bit over what the IR filter really added to the image beyond extra processing efforts.
I think Jim P would tell you that IR "sees" different things that a normal lens doesn't. I should have taken a shot w/o the IR filter for comparison.

An IR macro shot - love it, Monika! Nice detail, and the tonal rendition is very likely significantly different from what a visible light image would give you.

There's a bit of a halo around a couple of the flowers, probably due a little motion blur from that wind. But I kinda like it - the sense of movement it adds, to my eye - enlivens the image.

Thanks, Jim. It was gusty enough that I didn't think anything would be salvage-able, so I was happy enough with this as an experiment. The ponderosas are really swaying now.
